Rescue Line Launcher

One of my friends at work (William) is on the local search and rescue team. In the area where he lives there is a large creek. William ask, "Could one of your spud guns shoot a line across the creek?" I thought, "Why not?" So we did some tests and William bought 100 feet of 3mm cord. We also got some PVC parts and made a bullet or missile as Patrick calls it. It weights about 22 oz. In the latest test we fired it with about 27 psi and all 100 feet of the line was carried by the bullet. This was out of the 2x30 inch barrel attachment added to the end of my 1.25 inch ball valve gun. Here is a mpeg video(385k) if you want to see it.

 Finished

This thing is finally finished. Here are a series of photos that showing the firing of the projectile.
